Baton of Life

For those battling kidney failure, every second counts. What the baton represents is hope, in the form of dialyser. It is a filter which removes waste products and excess water from blood during dialysis. Every year, more than half a million dialysers are required to sustain and save lives.

This fundraising campaign seeks to raise $200,000 towards the provision of dialysers to support NKF patients’ haemodialysis treatment costs, and at the same time educate the community about kidney health and dialysis, while advocating a healthy lifestyle to stave off the looming kidney health crisis.

Pass on the Baton of Life and join in the meaningful cause of Giving Life and Hope to patients and their loved ones!

How does a dialyser work?

During haemodialysis, blood is pumped through the body and filtered through the dialyser, which acts as an artificial kidney, where waste products and excess water are removed.

Dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment for individuals with kidney failure or end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Kidney failure patients undergo haemodialysis treatment three times a week for the rest of their lives until they receive a transplant. A $25 donation will provide a patient with a week’s supply of dialysers to sustain their treatment.
