Kidney Screening at GP Clinics

Visit any of our partnering clinics and mention “NKF SCREENING” to the clinic’s staff to redeem a complimentary kidney screening if you meet the eligibility criteria.

The kidney screening consists of a serum creatinine test to check for kidney function and a Urine Albumin Creatinine Ratio test to check for signs of kidney disease.

Checks for abnormal protein leakage, a sign of kidney disease

There are 3 criteria that keen participants should fulfil to be eligible for this screening:
  1. Between the ages of 21- 80 years old
  2. Has not done a kidney screening in the past 1 year
  3. Has ANY ONE of these risk factors

Kidney Disease

BMI of ≥ 27.5kg/m2

Hypertension

Diabetes

Frequent smoker

Heart Disease*

Frequent NSAID use
(non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug)

*Includes heart attack, heart failure, valve disease, stroke and blood vessel/vascular disease

You are advised to call/email your preferred clinic to check their availability as an appointment may be required.

Kidney screening at GP Clinics
1. Is the screening complimentary?

Yes, this screening is complimentary for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents if you fulfil the 3 eligibility criteria.

2. What does the screening consist of?

It consists of serum creatinine (blood) and microalbuminuria tests (urine).

3. During the visit, I have been given medication or done tests unrelated to the kidney check, will it be covered by NKF?

The complimentary screening only covers the tests as mentioned. Any other consultation, diagnostic tests done during the visit will not be covered by NKF and are at participant’s own cost.

4. What if I realise that I am not eligible for the complimentary screening at the clinic?

If you wish to proceed with the kidney tests after being advised, it will be chargeable at your own cost.
