WELCOME TO KIDNEY LAND

Discover your body’s unsung heroes!

Your kidneys work constantly to filter waste and excess fluid from your blood, balance electrolytes, regulate blood pressure and support healthy bones and red blood cell production. But what happens when they stop working properly?

YOUR KIDNEYS IN ACTION

Step into an immersive journey through your kidneys and urinary system — and even into the tiny nephrons that keep your blood clean. Watch how blood is filtered, nutrients reabsorbed, and urine formed in this incredible process.
Can you spot blood cells, water, salt, and other molecules along the way?

LIFESTYLE QUESTION 1

I OPT FOR LESS SWEET OR SUGAR-FREE DRINK OPTIONS.

SPOT YOUR KIDNEYS!

Step on the footprints and raise your hand to begin.
When organs appear, place your hands on your lower back. That is where your kidneys are. They are bean-shaped organs just below your ribs, one on each side of your spine.

FILTRATION AND DIABETES

Try the pulley system!

See how healthy kidneys filter blood and how diabetes affects this process.

Diabetes happens when your body cannot control blood sugar levels properly. Too much sugar in your blood over time can damage your kidneys, causing important proteins to leak into your urine, which is an early sign of kidney problems.

PUMP IT! - BLOOD PRESSURE REGULATION

Pump it! Collect healthy food and avoid high-sodium items that can raise your blood pressure.

Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of your blood vessels. When this pressure stays consistently too high, it is called hypertension, or high blood pressure.

The increased pressure damages the blood vessels, making them narrow, stiff or weakened. This reduces blood flow to the kidneys, making it harder for them to filter waste. Over time, a vicious cycle of uncontrolled high blood pressure and kidney damage can lead to chronic kidney disease and eventually kidney failure.

ZOOM INTO YOUR KIDNEY

Take a closer look inside a kidney.
Learn how each part of the kidney filters blood, reabsorbs nutrients, and removes waste and excess water.

CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE

Watch this video to explore how kidney function gradually declines through the 5 stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) estimates how well your kidneys filter waste, such as creatinine, from your blood. A lower eGFR means the kidneys are working less effectively.

CKD may be diagnosed if any of these persist for 3 months or more:
1. eGFR below 60 (mL/min/1.73m²)
2. Protein in urine (UACR ≥ 3 mg/mmol or 30 mg/g)
3. Other signs of kidney damage

While CKD cannot be reversed, early detection, treatment and lifestyle changes can help slow its progression.

KIDNEY TRIVIA

How well do you know your kidneys?

Swipe to see how many questions you can get right!

Did you know? Kidneys are multitaskers! They filter blood, balance fluid and minerals, regulate blood pressure, and produce hormones to make red blood cells and strengthen bones.

Did you know? Uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension can silently damage your kidneys if not managed properly.

Did you know? Your eGFR is like a scorecard that shows how well your kidneys are cleaning your blood—even before you can feel any symptoms.

LIFESTYLE QUESTION 2

I IGNORE SIGNS OF STRESS.
