“I came to know about NKF’s mission when they approached my company for a donation. I asked more about the work they do and after I understood better patients’ needs, I encouraged my staff and partners to lend a helping hand and we have so far donated two dialysis machines.
When we visited one of the dialysis centres, we could see for ourselves the dialysis machine at work in giving patients a lifeline. When we talked to the patients, we understood their struggles. At the same time, we could see the impact our support is making. Patients had smiles on their faces and a positive mindset in facing the future with hope. We felt a great sense of satisfaction that our support was worthwhile and purposeful. We even posted photos on our company social media to spread awareness and to encourage more support from our partners and staff.
I had a friend who was facing a similar situation (having kidney failure) and at the time, I could only do what I could within my means and help with her financial difficulties. Now that my company supports NKF’s cause, we feel that we can do more together, especially as kidney dialysis is long term.
Deeply motivated, we are planning a fundraising charity drive through our outlets to raise funds to help more needy patients. On a personal level, I am even thinking of giving patients complimentary haircuts. There are many ways to help patients, whether it is with a donation, with your skill or just lending a listening ear. Whichever way you are able to help makes a difference. We want patients to know that there are people out there who care about them.”
